Akari No Yado Villa Revage Nikko

Akari No Yado Villa Revage Nikko

Date of stay: end October 2019

I’d had good communication with the management, namely Kono-san, when I made my booking as I had noted that I would like vegan breakfast. I was assured this wasn’t a problem. They weren’t kidding, because the breakfast was freaking awesome:

On the second morning breakfast looked so good I started eating the fried potato and forgetting to take a picture.

Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Kono speaks good English and kindly helped me with printing a document I needed last minute. Our room had a hotel information booklet with some pages in English about how to communicate to someone that you feel ill or are injured– all hotels should have this.

The breakfast restaurant area was well lit and spacious, able to accommodate large groups.

Akari no Yado has a communal fridge for all the guests to share as well as a microwave, tea station, glasses etc.

Guests have use of the private baths (stone or tiled) in the bath house, with free use of yukata available on a shelf near reception. Unfortunately we didn’t get to use the private baths.

The floors are wooden so if people are noisy outside your room it might be an issue, but for us it wasn’t a problem.

Located out of the main town area but near bus stop 13.

Shoes off at front door.

You must leave your room key at reception when leaving the premises. These are old school keys, not keycards.

We were very happy with our stay here. The hotel is located a couple minutes walk from the stop 13 for the street buses. It is located a ways out of the busier areas closer to the station and there’s nothing around at night time, but this didn’t bother us as we’re not party animals and wanted to be in bed early.

If we ever go back to Nikko I would happily stay here again. We were well looked after and the distance from the station doesn’t bother me (we took a taxi). I’ve read reviews where Kono drove guests to the station– you can’t get much better service than that!
